Shoals North Alabama Auto Auction now offers Post Sale Inspection (PSI) as a tool for buyers to buy with confidence.  The PSI is not part of the National Auto Auction Association (NAAA) Policy, but a separate service that ensures vehicles sold meet the guidelines set forth in the NAAA Policy.  Vehicles purchased in lane or on Simulcast are eligible for a PSI. The fee for the inspection is $150.00 plus any additional fees for inspections completed at the request of the buyer.

Vehicle Qualifications:

Green Light (Ride and Drive) Vehicles 10 model years and newer with a sale price greater than $3,000.00 and less than $50,000.00, with an odometer reading less than 175,000 miles and no odometer discrepancies are eligible for a PSI.  

PSI Guarantee

All items checked during the inspection period of the PSI are guaranteed to the buying dealer for 7 days after the sale, sale day being day 1.  If any singular item or part that was inspected fails during the guarantee period and costs more than $600.00 to repair, the item will be replaced or repaired by Shoals North Alabama Auto Auction, up to $1200.00 maximum.  Any repairs under $600.00 will be the responsibility of the buyer.  Vehicles challenged for issues must have 100 miles or less accumulated on the odometer from date of inspection.

Terms and Conditions

• The buyer is responsible for the PSI charge even if the vehicle fails inspection.

• The purchase of a PSI is a guarantee solely to the buyer. The seller will still be held responsible for undisclosed defects consistent with the NAAA Policy.

• PSI must be purchased on sale day within 1 hour of vehicle purchase.

• The guarantees and provisions apply only to the original buyer of the PSI. The guarantee is void once the vehicle is re-sold. PSI guarantees cannot be transferred.

• Seller’s vehicles with PSI pending shall not be considered finalized until the PSI report is completed.

• All vehicles for inspection have to be turned in to Brandon Schultz or Barry Berryman in writing or email within the specified period or PSI is selected for online buyers.

• Vehicle condition at the time of return must be the same or better as when purchased.

• If a vehicle is returned under PSI guarantee, Shoals North Alabama Auto Auction will not reimburse for transportation, reconditioning, work/expense performed on the vehicle or lost profit from retail or wholesale transaction.

• Repair cost is defined by Shoals North Alabama Auto Auction’s cost to repair.

• If a vehicle is purchased online and the winning buyer does not purchase a PSI, the buyer has until 2:00PM the day after the sale to arbitrate if the vehicle meets arbitration eligibility requirements.

• If a vehicle fails during the PSI inspection period and the buyer seeks a price adjustment, the vehicle would then go through Arbitration inspection which uses NAAA Arbitration Policy for reference.

• Any vehicle exceeding 175,000 miles will not be eligible for PSI, but can be arbitrated if sold with proper announcement or selling light until 1 hour after the sale for in lane purchases or 2:00PM the day after the sale for online purchases.

Exclusions to PSI

• Any AS-IS Vehicle

• Sale price is under $3,000.00 or greater than $50,000.00, regardless of selling light.

• Vehicles with odometer greater than 175,000 miles, regardless of selling light.

• Kit or Homemade Vehicles

• Trailers

• Performance or Modified Vehicles

• Motorcycles

• Recreational Vehicles

• Watercraft and Boats

• Antique Vehicles

• Heavy Trucks and Equipment

• Vehicles with Diesel engines

• Mercedes Benz, Audi, BMW, Alfa Romeo, Porsche, Aston Martin, Bentley, Jaguar, Land Rover, etc. Do not qualify for PSI.

• Vehicles with odometer discrepancies.
